DNG and XMP sidecars

Maybe I've missed this but is there a way to have FRV write the XMP changes internally in a DNG rather than as a sidecar?

Dear Sir:

You didn't miss anything here, currently we open raw/DNG files as read-only. Storage media and connections of storage through USB / network are not reliable enough to allow raw files modifications without taking serious precautions.
