thumbnails generating

Hi,
Is there some way to make process of generating thumbnails faster (some adjustment in preferences)? When I have lot of pictures in folder is taking very long. I can't select first photo and start culling before it generates all thumbnails.
Thank you

Dear Sir: what media do you use for raw storage? Is it local disk (what type, HDD or SSD?), external drive (what type, what connection), or network storage (again: what connection type and speed)?

It's local HDD TOSHIBA P300 2TB 3,5" 7200

As clearly seen in your screenshot, your drive speed drops about 200x (from 152Mb/sec to 0.78MB/sec if random access is used).

FastRawViewer default settings are optimized for today SSD drives that allows high parallel access without (such big) performance degradation.

For HDD drive you definitely need to decrease 'parallel level' of FRV, to not fetch several thumbnails at the same time.

Please follow this manual section: https://www.fastrawviewer.com/usermanual14/performance-settings (scroll to Hard Disk Drives and Hybrid drives section).

Start with lower values:

1-2 for 'Raw decode threads'  (1 will disable RAW prefetch, so 2 looks better)

1-2 for Thumbnail decoder thread count.

Also, your values for 4k/Q8T8 looks *too* low even for magnetic/mechanical HDD, typical values are about 1/3-1/4 of Sequental access. It may happen if your drive is very heavily fragmented, in such case defragmentation (e.g. Windows built-in one) is highly recommended.
