Settings transfering

Hello,
I had to reinstall my PC and with it I need to transfer FastRawViewer preferences to new system because it's heavily personalised. Is there any way to do it simply? For example is there some config file, ini etc.? I have my windows user folder backuped.

You need to do these steps:

1) On 'source' PC:

  - open Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe)

  - navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LibRaw LLC\FastRawViewer\Prefs in left column

  - right click on it and select 'Export'

  - regedit will ask you for file name, enter something

Repeat for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LibRaw LLC\FastRawViewer\Shortcuts (key settings)

and, if needed, for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LibRaw LLC\FastRawViewer\LastUsed - this key stores window geometry,  favorite foldes list, View menu settings - not sure, you need to transfer these settings too.

2) Transfer these file(s) to target PC

3) Double click on each file in Windows Explorer.

System will ask your confirmation twice (for each file). Press Yes/OK.

Thank you Lexa,
so if I have  only \user folder backuped it's no way to restore it, is it? :-) Never mind, next time.
Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, no. On Windows systems all settings are stored into Windows registry, so if your old computer is missing, no way to recover. Sorry.

So is possible to integrate backup/restore function in the FRV? Because working with Windows registers is very unconfortably activity and many users can damage their working system.

Added to TODO list for FRV 1.3, thanks.

FRV 1.3 (Release candidate is here: http://www.fastrawviewer.com/testing/fastrawviewer-1-3 )

includes BackupSettings.cmd script installed in C:\Program Files\LibRaw\FastRawViewer\scripts

The script will store all settings into Documents/FRV-backup folder
