2. Preferences - File formats - Default image to display: Same as previous

File display performance: you've upgraded your Windows, is it possible that SSD connection speed degraded for some reason (correct driver not installed/updated, read caching for drive turned off, etc)? USB is very complex protocol these days, it is generally possible that you've downgraded, for example, from USB 3.2 to 3.0. Could you please measure disk access speed with some benchmark software (e.g. CrystalDiskMark)?
