FRV hanging forever (consuming ~13% CPU)

Forums:

Hi folks.  I just bought FRV.  It was running fine for the first few days.   But today it has started hanging consuming about 13% cpu.   Once it gets in this state, it is non-responsive.  The only thing I can do is kill it.   It happens on ANY directory that contains any reasonable (eg. 100s or more) raw files from my camers (Nikon D850 and Sony A7R4).
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit (no updates at all, since I installed FRV).  My system is very powerful (64GB memory, 12 cores).
Things I've tried (none have helped) : chkdsk on all drives, reboot, uninstall and reinstall FRV, delete FRV database file, reset FRV cache, disable FRV disk cache.
Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dear Sir:

Please check your e-mail. This is a unique problem, we will need your help to investigate the cause and fix it.

I have the same problem. Was fine at first, but now it's extremnely slow, using up anything between 13% and 65% CPU when it locks up. I really don't have many photos in the folder, less than 50. It's pretty much unusable for me right now.

Could you please contact us via support@fastrawviewer.com and provide some addtional data:

  • Computer configuration (CPU, RAM)
  • Where your RAW files reside (internal HDD or SSD, external drive, card reader, network media; connection type for network)
  • Operating system type (Mac, Windows) and version
  • FastRawViewer version (Menu - Help - About on Windows, Menu - FastRawViewer - About on Mac)
  • RAW files type (camera name)

Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue.  The software is just what I was looking at, and is very fast, but frequently hangs as above users mention.  My computer details are:
Intel i7-8700
16GB RAM
nVidia GTX 1660 Super
Appreciate any help.  Thank you.

Additional questions:

 - where your files reside (e.g. removable media)

 - FRV version?

Could you please set Preferences - Other - Use reduced Folders panel functions  to checked to see that problem persists or not (you need to restart FRV to get this settings change in effect)

I have been having issues where FRV 1.7 64 bit stops for extended periods for 5-10 seconds, at random times, sometimes when the program has just opened, sometimes when I'm looking through files, either on a USB stick, or a hard disk.
Turning on "Use reduced Folders panel functions" seems to have fixed the issue.  I hope this helps, the program now looks very good, and I look forward to learning all its functionality.
Thank you.
Roger
