Random Photo Selection and XMP modification when certain filters are selected

Forums:

This behavior seems to be present in all forms of FastRawViewer I have tested:

  1. Enter Grid View
  2. Set filters to XMP Label = Green
  3. Set Sort to EXIF Timestamp (old...new)
  4. Double Click on any photo that isn't the first photo

The following will occur:

  1. FastRawViewer will begin randomly selecting photos from the folder that match the criteria
  2. FastRawViewer will begin removing the "green" XMP label from each photo that is presented

Thank you for the problem report.

Unable to reproduces with latest version (1.7.2 build 1696) under Windows (10).

Could you please create FastRawViewer debug log and send it to support@fastrawviewer.com

To create the log:

Open Preferences, Other section (last one)

Debug log messages: all

Save debug log to file: yes, remove on quit

Close FastRawViewer and start it again (to have full debug log from session beginning).

Reproduce the problem

Use Menu - Help - Show debug log in Explorer (Mac: Menu - Help - Reveal Debug log in Finder) to open Explorer/Finder window that points to the Debug log.

Attach the log to E-mail to support@fastrawviewer.com

Thanks in advance.

Although we're still unable to reproduce the problem (probably, it needs some not common preferences combination), it is obvious that the problem occur via  Force XMP files creation option, but for some reason current XMP Rating/Label is not written.

In build 1.7.3-1702 we changed Force XMP files creation to not change Rating/Label. This build is avaliable from: https://www.fastrawviewer.com/blog/FastRawViewer-1-7-3-Beta

1.8-(technology preview) is not updated iwith this change yet.

Log file sent

Thanks a lot, received.

According to the log, you're using FRV 1.8-technology preview version (unfortunately, we do not record exact version to the log, to be fixed).

Could you please provide exact build number (Menu - FastRawViewer - About)

Also, please consider downgrade to current release (1.7.2) from https://www.fastrawviewer.com/download or to 1.7.3 beta: ( https://www.fastrawviewer.com/blog/FastRawViewer-1-7-3-Beta ), this version should not have this bug.

Same fix is also implemented in FRV 1.8 (technical preview) build 1717: https://www.fastrawviewer.com/blog/FastRawViewer-1-8-Technology_Preview
