regarding you statement #2:
My Olympus cameras have the same feature of adding audio notes to the pictures.
It would really be nice to have the option to display some sort of "attachment" icon on the thumbnail in the grid view. And/or have a filter type "display pictures with attachments only" (*1). Thus you could spot these audio notes quickly. And if there would also be a quick way from within FRV to jump to that attachment in the file manager (MAC: finder) you could listen to the audio and - if needed - write the important notes into the EXIF comments.
Footnote:
*1) Of course XMP sidecar files will have to be ignored. Because there already is a configuation option to include "Additional file
extensions to copy/move with file" the software could use this as criteria for displaying the "attachement(s) available" status.
