I'm running into a problem with the processed RAW files from my EOS R5 (.tiff files). My .CR3 files are 38.7 MB each. The .tiff files resulting from Digital Photo Professional is 283 MB each. Files that large can't be opened by FastRawViewer in the default configuration.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone find a solution?
I have read the tutorial pdf's trying to find out how to interpret noise with FRV, but I'm not getting it. It looks as though using "D" (Display fine details) helps with noise definition...the more red dots, the more noise??? Thanks.
I am trying to use the histograms to determine which raws to process, but I am having some trouble interpreting the histograms. The link below will bring you to three images with differing histos. What I find problematic is how to interpret the tail-offs to the right in the histos. I've labeled these images according to their tail-offs to the right. I believe that the "just right" labeled image would be the one to process, but I'm not sure. So, I'd appreciate just how to look at the histos in order to choose the "editable" one. Thanks.
Long tail-off
Presently, FRV opens with images from the last folder I was working on. I would prefer to thave FRV open without any images showing in the flimstrip. Thanks.
Hi everyone
I'm relatively new to FastRawViewer and I'm sure this must have been asked before but why can I not add a star rating to TIFF files?
Thanks
I've recently begun to use Affinity photo for most of my editing. It doesn't have a digital asset manager component and I'd like to use FRV for this. Main drawback is that FRV doesn't recognise Affinity photo files. I can of course send RAW files to Affinity Photo from FRV but having done that I can't directly reedit the .afphoto files. I know its not what FRV is designed to do but it would be useful.
I am very new to Fast Raw Viewer. I've been using PhotoMechanic since as long as I can remember, and I have mostly switched from using Lightroom to using PhotoLab 4. I've been watching all the videos about FRV, and I have two or three more to watch - tomorrow.
I love this app -- however, the select feature is confusing to me. Is there a way to change the select behavior?
Expected: I click on a photo. I hold shift key. I click on another photo 5 squares away. My expectations are that all squares between the first photo and the last clicked photo are selected.
Actual Result: If no photo had a green checkbox selected, the selected range would start with the first photo in the view to the last picture clicked.
Hi
Just started using Fast Raw Viewer, and I love it - thanks!
Sometime, I want to quickly create a jpg version of my RAW, without starting to edit (maybe a bit exposure), just to quickly share something.
Is there a way to create such jpg from inside the viewer, without invoking my external photo editing software?
Hi,
I just updated to the above version and noticed that you added a "Display Fine Detail" (D) button to the USM.
That is pretty nice, and I think makes it somewhat possible to use that to cull images for sharpness, but I still have to look for the amount of the "bright red" areas (more of those around edges seems to ==> sharper).
So I was wondering if it'd be possible to add a feature to FRV when I could select an area, and FRV could calculate some number that is indicative of the number of bright red areas within the boundary?
Or something like that?
