Features removed/ not working after update

Forums:

After recently updating FastDrawViewer, a couple of the actions/ features stopped working.
1) If selecting images to edit, once you click the "Run Program" button, it would open my photo editor program, in my case Affinity Photo, and it will download the selected image(s) so you can begin editing. In the past, you did not need to close the editing program when selecting additional files to be edited, you merely went back into FastRawViewer and selected the additional images and when you clicked on the "Run Program" button, it woul load just like before. Now, once you select the files you want edited and download those files to your editing program, you must close the editing program before you can select any more files in FastRawViewer to download back into the editing program. Very incovenitent and adds time to the workfrow when processing multiple images.
2) When reviewing the photos in my culling process, I used to be able to select several images and when adding Star Ratings and/or Flags Colors, it would automatically add those ratings to all the selected images. Now it will only add the raiting to the last image selected. Again a workflow time bandit to have to select each file individually to rate the image.
Please tell me this was not an intended chage in the processes and will be addressed in future bug fixes.
I absolutely love FasrRawViewer and it is an integral process in my photography/editing workflow.

Dear Sir:

What other updates have you installed (Affinity, OS)?

OS updated months ago and everything worked fine.
Affinity updated probably a month before FastRawViewer and everything still worked fine.

#1 issue: FastRawViewer just executes 'external-editor-application [list of files passed]'

For most apps it just works. If it is not for (updated) Affinity: try to use drag-n-drop from FastRawViewer to your app.

#2 issue:

  - what is your Preferences - Selection - Single file keys works for multiple files too setting?

  - How do you perform multiple ratings/color labels (via context menu, via hotkey, via XMP Metadata panel)?

Lexa,
Thanks for your input. I agree, these functions just worked and I loved it. Now, I just have to adjust my workflow and that just take longer. Putting it into perspective, it might only take an extra 5-10 sec. evertime I have to close my editor and reopen with the next batch of images to edit. (I don't like to overload the editor with too many loaded files at a time so I try to limit to between 5-10 photos in a batch) But if I am selecting 40-50 images for post processing, it adds up.
I cheked the "Single file key works for multiple files too" setting and it was selected. I also went back into the External Editors tab and reselected my Affinity Photo .exe again to make sure there wasn't something with the file path that might have changed with the OS update but like I said, it worked fine after the OS update for the months prior to the FastRaw update.
I will also add this bug fix on the Affinity forums as well just incase it actually is somethign on their end but why did it work for a while and then stop.

Dear Sir:

> I cheked the "Single file key works for multiple files too" setting and it was selected.

Thank you very much for confirming that.

Please check the suggestion in #1, that is if "drag-n-drop from FastRawViewer to" Affinity, works.

Please answer the second part of the question #2, "How do you perform multiple ratings/color labels (via context menu, via hotkey, via XMP Metadata panel)?"

We would be grateful if you could send the screenshots illustrating your workflow to us: support@fastrawviewer.com

Sorry, I forgot to answer the question about the labeling. I do that step using the XMP Metedata panel.  In my workflow, I flag the images I want to edit with one color, say Green. After I have edited those photos I go back and change those photos to Red so I can tell which I have cmpleted and which are still pending.

I will try the drag and drop later today as I am in the middle of editing a recent shoot and I want to finish that up before I try it.

Dear Joe:

XMP Metadata panel buttons (and, also, standard hotkeys and menu items) will change single/multiple files depending on context:

  • If some file is opened in Single File View mode: only this file will be changed
  • In Grid View Mode, current (active) file is in selected (marked) files group: group of files
  • In Grid View Mode, current file is not part of selected (marked) files: depending on settings.

See details in FastRawViewer manual: https://updates.fastrawviewer.com/data/FastRawViewer2-Manual-ENG.pdf#pag...

To change rating/label for multiple files selected in Filmstrip while FastRawViewer is in Single File View mode:

  • Use context (right click) menu on Filmstrip
  • Or enable separate shortcuts/menu items for act on selected files group

(again, see details in manual, same pages)
