Long story short, I was "attempting" to use Adobe Bridge for culling and it was a nightmare... stuck on generating previews...slow...system unresponsive...
Gave FRV a go and Wow. Even on network shares, it absolutely flies. Just made culling a breeze and now I can carry on using my 2015 macbook pro without upgrading to an M!
So thank you for an awesome software!
Note: This was using Nikon Z8 HE* raws.
Abbas.

Hello, I have a lot of different folders, each with 3-4 subfolders.
The subfolder mode is great for navigating through the folders, but unfortunately I always have to set this mode by right-clicking -> "Open in subfolder mode" and then setting/confirming the folder depth.
This is really annoying in the long run.
Can I somehow set it by default so that folders up to a certain depth are always opened in this mode?
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything about this and it would be so incredibly helpful.

Hello,
I'm testing FastRaw Viewer to see if it can fit my workflow.
I've tried to look around the options, but I can't find the following: I would like to sync the raw file with the HIF. This way, when I set a rating for the Raw File, the corresponding HIF also receives the rating or label. With this, I could then filter both the Raw and HIF files to be imported in Lightroom Classic.
There's a way to achieve this?
A.

Is there a way in FastRawViewer to add notes by selecting a photo, going to the "Metadata" panel, and typing directly into the "Notes" field? I want to add written notes on each photo that can be searchable in Lightroom Classic after importing. Thanks

When I try to preview HEIC images (.HIF from Sony Alpha 7CII) I get an image with crushed highilghts.
This is not what it's supposed to look like. Attached are comparisons of HEIC (doesn't matter 4:0:0 or 4:2:2) vs JPEG striaght out of camera in FastRawViewer and in Lightroom (highlights are correct this time).
I am using FastRawViewer 2.0.9 on Windows 11 with HDR enabled and Color management disabled. Enabling color management doesn't fix the issue for me.

I noticed in the release notes that v 2.0.9 has Nikon HE/HE* compression support. Does this mean FastRawViewer is using the raw histogram for Nikon HE/HE* file format or is it using the embebbed jpeg?

I'm trying to import both the Raw and Jpeg into Lightroom but when I select a file and then "Run program - Adobe Lightroom Classic" only the raw is selected for import.
I have "Handle Raw and JPEG together" selected in preferences. If I untick this then both the Jpeg and Raw are both displayed but it means I have to double up and select both the JPEG and Raw.
Anyway to import both?

Hi is there anyway to perform a double action with keyboard shortcuts, I would like to automatically move onto the next photo once I've assigned a number 1-5 rather than pressing 5 say and then the right arrow?
Many thanks

Hi sorry if this is obvious but can't seem to work out how. Rather than rejected each image as I go I want to rank images for lightroom 1-5 and then once finished, click to reject all the unranked images.
Many thanks

In Lightroom you can use the color labels to organize folders. Would be handy for FastRaw Viewer to have folder labels as well e.g. to mark with red not started, yellow in progress, green completed.
