FastRawViewer: questions, suggestions, feature requests.
I have my image importer configured to place files as follows:
1) year-mon-day/file[x-z]
2) jpegs by default go into above folder (if they exist)
3) Raws go in a separate sub-folder under the above year-mon-day folder ie year-mon-day/Raws
I have FRV configured to handle Raw+jpeg as a pair for culling. However, I guess the file pairs are assumed to be in the same folder (which makes sense, by default).
However, what could (?) be a very nice enhancment (for the above pref) is this:

It would be nice to be able to filter on more exif data then the current options. ISO, diafragm, lens, shutterspeed, etc.
With this opening of multiple files like Bridge would complete the way to a more complete tool.

Until a few days ago, I was a big fan of FastRawViewer , but now I have again tested some "oldtimers" for sorting my RAW files, especially XNView MP, Honey View and FastStone Picture Viewer and to my surprise I had to realize that all three programs display RAW files (compressed and separate JPG) noticeably faster than FastRawViewer.
Especially XnView MP makes this very convincing and offers all functions for marking the files. The program has currently replaced FRW in my case.
Why do I write this here?

Hi,
Just learning how to use FRV and I'm having the fundamental problem of not being about to reject an image. ie, I can't do the job of culling that I got it for.
As I couldn't see "reject" in the menus, I checked the keyboard shortcuts. There, under XMP Rating - Set rating to reject - it says "change disabled. b/c XMP Reject use is disabled"
Why is this, and what do I need to change to be able to cull my images?
I'm looking at files on my harddrive, not a memory card.
Thanks.

Hi...
Is there a quick way (ideally a settable keyboard shortcut) to change displayed thumbnail size?
The only way I seem to be able to do this is from a hierarchial menu from the gear icon at the top right of the grid view's top bar.

Hello,
I am happy with FastRawViewer and the display of Nikon RAW file (NEF) is good !
But It seems that display of Fuji RAW (RAF) is bad, nearly unusable in FRV.
There is a lot of artefacts around the edges : see the file included which is a screen capture at 100% zoom.
Is there any option I have to check ? I have already uncheck fast display for Fuji option...
Thanks for helping...

Hi, one of the things I do when editing images is to select multiple folders (at the same level or not) and see their content in the image library ; LR and ACDSee do it well, but apparently not FRW. Am I wrong? (BTW, this is a very useful feature…for me, anyway)

Hi, I really love the program. It helps me saving so much time in the process of culling and evaluating my photos.
I'm really happy about the settings for the "Zoom In/Zoom Out range", because I don't want to zoom in beyond 100%.
But I also don't want to zoom out below "Fit to Window size". But the smallest value I can enter for "Zoom out" is 5%. It would be fantastic if there was another setting that would limit the "Zoom out" to "Fit to Window size" so that I could use the mouse wheel for zooming between "fit to window" and "100%".
