FastRawViewer: bug reports
Submitted by J_S on Thu, 05/05/2022 - 10:53
Issue:
Selection of images in the grid or in the film strip works reliable only when using mouse.
When using cursors, it does not reliable select start or end of selection. Sometimes it starts from previous selection by mouse, sometimes it looks random (few images off the correct one). Selection mode (advanced/non advanced) does not seem to have an effect.
How to reproduce:
1. In the image grid, move active image using cursors.
2. Press shift a while shift is pressed select more images using cursors

Originally, I thought this issue was being cause by DxO PhotoLab, but realized it is caused by FastRawViewer. The problem is that the "sign" of the GPS data is either being corrupted or ignored by FastRawViewer when it creates an XMP file (as the result of setting ratings, for example).

I've used FastRawViewer for a couple of years. I just upgraded to a new Alienware R13 with Windows 11 and installed FRV. Every time I open FRV 2.0, it doesn't even start to load the file browser. It just hangs and doesn't respond until I eventually just end the process with Task Manager. I tried 1.78 and it loads the file browser and hangs just after. I already have the latest graphics card drivers. What can I do?
Thank you.

Hi, when I try to move file with drag and drop (with an alt key) from grid view the plus sign is blinking, and sometimes it result as copy, sometimes as move.
Please look at the screencast attached:

I sometimes need to work with images which are actually symlinks to other folder. When I use Move to folder or Move to _Rejected functions, FastRawViewer doesn't move the symlink, but the file which links target to. I think it is not a correct behavior.
Steps to reproduce:

Hi, I am wanting to use neutral settings and have followed the instructions on page 126 of the V2 manual.
But "write linear curve to XMP files" grayed out. How do I enable this option - or is it a bug?
Tried on latest 2.03 release candidate and earlier versions -all have same issue.
Thanks for a great program.

Hi. New user here. Love the software, it does what I need perfectly. I have just one issue that I can't seem to figure out. Why is the program window so laggy when I drag and move it around the screen? I have a perfectly capable laptop (i7-4720HQ, GTX 970M, 12GB RAM) yet there is a lot of lag when dragging the window around the desktop. I have not experienced this with any other programs like Photoshop or Lightroom. I tried running the program in both DirectX 11, OpenGL and Legacy modes but the lag still remains in all 3. I also ran the program with the dedicated GPU and no difference.

In MacOS, when I use the "F" key to toggle into Full screen mode, it retains the panel layout, but when toggling back out of full screen all of the panels shrink to a miniature window size. Then toggling back to full screen, the new panel proportions carry over. Ideally, toggling in and out of Full Screen mode should have minimal impact on window/panel layout, but if you set-up a workspace in full screen, then hit F twice the whole layout is lost.

FRV is not indicating all OE areas of images. For example, comparing the two lowest exposures of a three image bracket (EC = -2/3 and 1 1/3) the higher EC image shows a small area of OE but comparing the images with the exposure of the 1 1/3 image reduced by 2 to match the lower EC image there is clearly much more OE area. I adjusted the exposure of the higher EC image to -5, OE areas not shown by FRV are even more evident. See attached screen capture from FRV. How can I get FRV to correctly show the OE areas?
